Reviving a wholesome believer

We at Grounded understand that the Muslim individual requires many facets of their lives to be addressed, developed and nurtured in order to function optimally as a wholesome and spiritually grounded believer and to experience a true sense of wellbeing.

Therefore, we have researched and identified the following six areas of need:

Each of these six areas of need must be addressed in the process of developing and nurturing an individual towards flourishing as a wholesome and balanced human being who lives with a true sense of wellbeing and purpose.

The method

We address the six areas of need by: Exploring, Guiding and Enhancing our Tribe members Knowledge, Understanding and Perceptions, as well as their: Beliefs, Attitudes and Values throughout their learning experience.

Foundational teachings

We firmly believe that the practical and spiritually-based teachings and models of personal development found in authentic traditional Islam serve as the best and most effective means of establishing and enhancing all of the areas of an individual’s need.

“Today I have perfected your faith for you, completed My favour upon you, and chosen Islam as your way.” Quran 5:3

Hence, the traditional Islamic teachings are the foundation upon which Grounded services have been established.

“O believers! Respond to Allah and His Messenger when he calls you to that which gives you life. And know that Allah stands between a person and their heart, and that to Him you will all be gathered.” Quran 8:24

Our Focus

Our Tribe focuses on grounding members in the foundational Islamic teachings of:

  1. Islam – Spiritual surrender and practice
  2. Iman – Faith, belief and Islamic creed
  3. Ihsan – Spiritual excellence

The Prophet ﷺ designated three degrees of the religion. The pinnacle is excellence (Ihsan), its middle is faith (Iman) and its base is Islam. Thus, every Muhsin (person of Ihsan) is a Mu’min (believer) and every Mu’min is Muslim (one who submits), but not every Mu’min is a Muhsin and not every Muslim is a Mu’min

– Ibn Taymiyyah

In 2016, I endured a life-changing illness which required massive changes in all aspects of my life. Feeling overwhelmed while trying to do the right thing for myself and others, I was desperate for an understanding and a non-judgemental source of Islamic advice and support. Alhamdulillah, I found Calisha in 2018. When I joined the Tribe, I found that we all shared a common safe place to be vulnerable and empathic and where we could deeply reflect on our own struggles and also from the struggles of others. Calisha structured the 12-month programme with the core foundations of Islam, gave us accountabilities to improve in every aspect and at the same time, to slowly correct our own mistakes and weaknesses along the journey. I have emerged as a much calmer and stronger person and less reactionary, with internal strengths I never knew I had. I strongly recommend this opportunity to all women who feel they are stuck, overwhelmed with life trials and are striving to improve their inner connection with Allah. Insha Allah you too will see the difference, with Allah’s will.
