#SelfLove
The danger of self love mantras and putting yourself first,
Is going leave you in a state of relentless unquenched thirst.
You see, our tradition teaches us that the opposite is true,
Our Prophet taught us that the way to happiness and success is to put others before you.
We were told that to truly believe you’ve got to love for others what you love for yourself,
So honey, I’m sorry but that means sometimes you’ve got to put your self importance on the shelf.
Because true elevation and honour comes not from placing yourself at the top,
And rather you rise when self prioritisation you stop.
Our faith teaches us that through submission and duty comes strength,
And that service to humanity should be extended at length.
Our faith is a system that guides to a higher station,
That we can achieve through humility and self annihilation.
Because there’s nothing more ugly than a self obsessed soul,
Who cannot offer to their dependents all of themselves whole.
So don’t believe the deceiving memes, the mantras and coaches,
Islam guides us to a better way as the end of time encroaches.
Never forget that our religious world-view and perceptions,
Are what will protect us from all of the worldly deceptions.
Be critical of what you’re fed in your ‘feed’. We have a better way.
“Be careful of your duty to Allah and be with the truthful.” Qur’an 9:119
“And keep yourself patient [by being] with those who call upon their Lord in the morning and the evening, seeking His countenance. And let not your eyes pass beyond them, desiring adornments of the worldly life, and do not obey one whose heart We have made heedless of Our remembrance and who follows his desire and whose affair is ever [in] neglect.” Qur’an 18:28
