Our scholars say:

A miserable life equates to a miserable Hereafter.

A happy life equates to a happy Hereafter.

This type of misery mentioned is an inner state of depression and unhappiness which can only be cured through the remembrance of and obedience to Allah SWT.

“As for the one who disregards My message, he will have a miserable life, and we resurrect him, on the Day of Resurrection, blind.” Quran 20:124

We choose our state by choosing our focus.

  1. This life and it’s temporary tests, indulgences and pursuits

or

  1. The potential life to come in it’s potential eternal bliss and destination with the Divine

Observe yourself and those around you.

Do you see a person who is cheerful, content, calm and with an elevated perspective? Or someone who is low in mood, discontent, agitated and negative in perspective?

Do you ever wonder how and why some of the poorest people in the world still have smiles on their faces despite their extremely testing circumstances?

Answer: Dhikr (remembrance of Allah SWT)

Perhaps with increased interest in and regard for His message through engaging in His remembrance we might find the true essence of joy and tranquility of heart we seek.

“Verily in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.” Quran 13:28

We need not look far at all sisters. No sciences, modern therapies, chat groups,l memes or incense sticks are needed as replacements for the soothing that can be found with Allah SWT.

The answers and healing we seek can all be find with Him SWT, within His Holy Book, with His beloved Messenger SAW, his Companions RA, the scholars and the righteous.

May we be protected from the blindness in this life that will cause the blindness that Allah SWT mentions the heedless will be resurrected with in the next.

Blindness to what? Blindness to the truth and beauty of this religion, blindness to His signs, warnings, reminders, verses and more.

May Allah protect us from misery and blindness, Ameen.
